The 5th Meeting of the Gulf Autism Association.

In the framework of joint cooperation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Al- Faisalya Women’s Welfare Society in Jeddah represented in  Jeddah Autism Center hosted the fifteenth  meeting of the Gulf Autism  Association  on Sunday, 25 Muharam 1434 AH, corresponding to the 9th of December , 2012 AD in Jeddah Intercontinental Hotel . The meeting was held under the chairmanship of HRH Princess Fahda Bint Saud Bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Association and the representative of Saudi Arabia in the League, and in the presence of Dr. Samira Abdulatief Al Saad, head of the Gulf Autism Association, Vice President of the International Autism Organization and the director of Kuwait Center for Autism.

And also in the presence of representatives of the Member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC):
 
  • Ms. Samira Al Qasimi the councilor at Shafalla Center for Mental Disabilities and Autism in Qatar and President of the Arab Network for Autism.
  • On behalf of Professor Fareda Almuaaed President of the Bahraini Association for mental disability and autism, Dr. Ahmed Al Ansari, Vice President.
  • Prof. Nadia Ali Alajameah from Special Education Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Sultanate of Oman.
  • On behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Jawharabint Faisal bin Turki,president of the mother of Prince Faisal bin Fahd Center forAutism in Riyadh, professor AliaaNasser Shuaibi, director of the father of Prince Faisal bin Fahd Center for Autism - representative of the Central region.
  • Mr. Khalid Algammeiah from Shumuaa Almaarefa( Knowledge candles) Center for special needs in Dammam - representative of the Eastern Region.
  • Professor Khayria Mohammed Noor Rahimi, vice president of the Jeddah Autism Center.
  • Professor Fawzia Abdul Rahman Al Tassan, General director of the Al- Faisalya Women’s Welfare Society in Jeddah.
     
The meeting has the following results:
  • The release of the website of the Association of Gulf Autism on the internet.
  • Cooperation with the State of Kuwait "Kuwait Center for Autism" in organizing the World Conference of Autism in 2014.
  • Updated the Gulf Autism Association booklet to include all the achievements of the Association at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
     
It is worth mentioning that the GCC Association was founded in 2002 AD at the invitation of Dr. Samira Al Saad, director of the Kuwait Center for Autism and the presence of a group of specialists from autism centers in the Gulf. It aims to mutual cooperation between the sponsors of autism in the GCC, and the work to upgrade the scientific and professional level of the workers in this field.
 
Most important objectives of the Gulf Autism Association:
  • Develop a mechanism for cooperation between the sponsors of autism in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and how to strengthen it.
  • Put an integrated database among all GCC including the number of people with autism from all injury levels and age groups, workers in this field, programs and other.
  • Publish a protocol version specialized in diagnosis. The Association will distribute it to the competent authorities and training them.
  • Provide scientific awareness of books, scientific publications, brochures, computer disks and networks to inform the workers in this field on all developments in the field of special education.
  • Work on upgrading the scientific and professional level of the workers in the institutes and special education programs (autism and poor communication) through training courses, seminars, conferences, providing missions and other.
  • Raise awareness of the disability in the community and how to deal with patients and activating the role of print - audio-visual media.
  • Encourage scientific research in the field of autism and poor communication by sponsoring (medical, educational, and social researches)
  • Directing researchers towards scientific research that could help people with disability and to develop the used programs and methods.
  • Preparation and coordination in seminars, conferences and training courses.
  • Exchange of experience through organizing visits and inviting specialists.
  • Coordination in authoring and translating books to avoid  publishing or translating the same version.
  • Coordination in Arabization the tests standards and to apply them.
  • Cooperation with different ministries and activate their role in providing various services for autism.
